Medical Disclaimer

Last updated: 16 September 2026

Everything on Eco Living Mama is shared from personal experience. I am not a doctor, a pharmacist, a midwife, a lactation consultant or a registered practitioner of any kind, and nothing on this site should be treated as medical advice.

What this site is

Recipes for homemade body care, notes on ingredients I like, and things that have worked in my own home. Some of it draws on traditional or folk use of herbs and plants. Traditional use is not the same thing as clinical evidence, and I try to be clear about the difference.

What it is not

Nothing here is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any illness or condition. If something on this site sounds like it will fix a health problem, please read it as enthusiasm rather than a promise. Statements about ingredients have not been evaluated by any regulatory body.

Please talk to a professional

Speak to a qualified healthcare professional before acting on anything you read here, and especially before you:

  • use anything on or around a baby, toddler or young child
  • use anything while pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
  • use essential oils, which are concentrated and need diluting properly
  • take anything internally, including teas, syrups and herbal preparations
  • change, delay or stop any treatment a doctor has given you
  • try something new while managing an existing condition, or while taking medication

Children

Children are not small adults. Dilution, quantity and suitability are all different for them, and they vary with age. Where a recipe on this site mentions children, please treat it as a starting point for a conversation with your paediatrician, not as an instruction. Raw honey should never be given to a baby under one year old.

Patch testing and allergies

Natural does not mean harmless. Plant oils, butters, clays and essential oils can all cause irritation or an allergic reaction. Patch test anything new on a small area of skin and wait 24 hours before using it properly. Some citrus oils increase sensitivity to sunlight. Stop using anything that stings, burns or causes a rash.

Comments

Comments on this site are written by readers and reflect their own experience, not mine. A comment describing a result someone else had is not a claim that you will have the same one.

Your own judgement

You know your own body, your family and your circumstances better than any website does. Please use your judgement, and if in doubt, do not. Anything you make or use from this site, you do at your own risk.

Questions about any of this are welcome — see the contact page. Details of how this site earns money are on the affiliate disclosure page.
