Now that it’s officially fall, its time to put pumpkin in everything, right?
I’m pretty much obsessed with hot chocolate, so it’s obviously the first thing I add pumpkin to when the clock strikes fall!
This pumpkin Reishi hot chocolate recipe is no ordinary hot chocolate. It is packed full of healthy ingredients and super foods, like raw cacao powder, cacao butter, cinnamon, Reishi mushrooms and of course pumpkin! This hot chocolate is hearty, creamy and satisfying, with a dose of healthy fats and a mild spicy finish.
I drink this guilt free since there is not a single bad-for-you ingredient, but if you’re on a diet this might not be the hot chocolate for you ;). This pumpkin Reishi hot chocolate recipe a variation of my regular hot chocolate (yes, I really do love hot chocolate).
What are Reishi Mushrooms?
I just recently discovered the magic that is the reishi mujshroom and am currently on a mission to find ways to eat them every day. Reishi mushrooms are a often called the ‘king of herbs‘ because of their extraordinary immune boosting and overall health properties. Reishi mushrooms have been used in herbal medicine for thousands of years.
Reishi mushrooms have anti-aging properties, are a proven anti-inflammatory, can boost the immune system and improve mood and overall cognitive function. They have a very bitter taste when consumed in a tea or powder, so they are best mixed in with other strong flavors. You can read more about the benefits of reishi mushrooms here.
Where can I buy Reishi Mushrooms?
Reishi mushrooms are available in powdered and sometimes tincture form in most health stores, and I have also seen it in Sprouts. I use this reishi mushroom powder, and I really like it. I buy lots of my superfoods from TerraSoul on Amazon and I love their products. They are consistently high quality and their prices can’t be beat.
I can’t taste the reishi mushroom at all in this pumpkin hot chocolate. It’s the perfect way to get this super-herb in to my diet – covered in chocolate ;).
Pumpkin Reishi Hot Chocolate Superfood Ingredients
This recipe calls for a few superfood ingredients that you might not have on hand. I like to add a scoop of collagen powder for an added protein boost. I buy all of these on Amazon.
I use an immersion blender to mix my hot chocolate because it helps the cacao butter to fully incorporate and gives it a creamy, frothy finish. It is an extra step that only takes 30 seconds and makes a huge difference in how this recipe turns out!

Recipe Notes
I prefer to mix my hot chocolate with an immersion blender because it makes it extra creamy and helps the cacao butter to completely incorporate in. It's an extra step, but I think it's totally worth it for the extra creamy and slightly frothy finish!
