This lavender whipped body butter is such a treat for dry skin. Made with just five natural ingredients, it’s easy to make yet feels so luxurious.

Made with equal parts shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and almond oil, each natural ingredient packs a skin-nourishing punch that will have you reaching for this body butter daily. Lavender essential gives this recipe its relaxing, floral aroma that is perfect as a pre-bedtime moisturizer or anytime you want to pamper yourself.

You can make this recipe without whipping it for a straightforward lavender body butter that is just as nourishing. The whipping is just about getting a lovely light texture and doesn’t change how the moisturizer works. It only takes a few extra minutes to whip, and I think it is worth the effort!

What Is Whipped Body Butter?

Whipped body butter is a rich, nourishing body moisturizer with a light and fluffy texture. It’s similar to a homemade lotion but much richer since it contains only botanical butters and oils and no water like a traditional lotion does.

Since it has no water-based ingredients, whipped body butter has a long shelf-life for a homemade body product and can safely be stored for six months.

A little goes a long way with any body butter, and this recipe is especially great for dry, parched skin.

About the Ingredients

You only need five easy-to-find natural ingredients for this recipe, and if you are a regular DIY’er, chances are you already have these on hand. This simple recipe contains no cornstarch. Here’s what you’ll need:

Shea Butter – A staple in many homemade body butter recipes, shea butter is rich and nourishing for dry skin. I typically use unrefined, which has a slightly earthy smell. You may substitute mango butter for the shea in this recipe.

Cocoa Butter – Another fabulously nourishing ingredient for skin, cocoa butter is firmer than shea butter and gives this body butter some thickness. I typically use unrefined cocoa butter like this one, but if you don’t want these to smell like chocolate, I’d opt for refined cocoa butter this time.

Almond Oil – is one of my favorite oils for so many DIY moisturizers; almond oil is nourishing, gentle, and great for the skin. You can substitute avocado oil or sunflower oil with good results.

Coconut Oil – While you won’t find coconut oil in a ton of my recipes, I like it in this whipped body butter because it helps to give the final product a silky feel. As you may know, unrefined coconut oil has a slight coconut smell, so opt for a refined version if that’s not your jam.

Lavender Essential Oil – Ahh, lavender essential oil is so versatile and great in so many recipes. It’s a staple in my home and perfect for a soothing body butter like this one. I recommend a high-quality lavender oil like this one from Plant Therapy.
